She received her Bachelor of Science from Indiana University Southeast and earned her Juris Doctorate from Indiana University's Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and serves as the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) liaison to the Louisville field office.
Before joining Sapon Immigration, Kathleen worked for Catholic Charities of Louisville, where her practice focused on family and humanitarian immigration, including family-based petitions, adjustment of status, consular processing, naturalization, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Temporary Protected Status (TPS), U visas, T visas, VAWA, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), removal defense, and asylum.
Kathleen has volunteered her time and expertise by participating in free immigration legal clinics in the community, presenting Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses to other attorneys, and conducting presentations to the incoming immigrant legal community in Louisville. She also spent time in Arizona helping new immigrant arrivals navigate the legal system and reunite them with their relatives already here in the U.S. She has attended numerous conferences to stay abreast of developments in immigration law, including several American Immigration Lawyer Association (AILA) conferences, Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC) annual conferences, and the Federal Bar Association Annual Immigration Conference.
In her free time, Kathleen enjoys hiking with her husband and their Rhodesian Ridgeback, Chloe, birding, nurturing her indoor plant collection, and traveling to countries across the globe to experience and learn about other cultures.
