Open Recruitment for Animal Scientists
We are recruiting Animal Scientists for desirable positions in the U.S. to manage livestock, their behaviors, care, and welfare, including methods to optimize meat quality attributes during swine processing for food. Animal science skills will be applied to the duties of animal care, behavioral assessments, feeding, and processing of qualified swine. The ideal candidate will be able to lead, participate, and enhance day-to-day activities in the stockyards.
SALARY
$23.74 per hour, plus benefits
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Mexican residency
Passport, minimum six months validity
Advanced-level English
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Professional degree in one of the following fields:
Veterinary medicine
Animal Science
Agronomy Engineering & Husbandry
SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES
Using/applying theoretical and practical knowledge of animal health, welfare, behavior, evaluation, and food production.
Moving animals safely and in accordance with current regulatory criteria.
Inspecting trailers used for hog transportation and ensuring hogs were transported safely and in a manner that provides for their overall health and welfare.
Observe and note when animals show signs of stress during movement, and take action to eliminate the stress to keep the overall health of the herd in control.
Make an evaluation of each animal that arrives at their facility to determine that it meets the requirements for weight, sound health, lack of illness, injury, or stress.
Euthanasia and disposal of animals that do not meet the standards.
Data collection, analysis, and report creation for the animals that arrive at the facility.
